Americans have all but forgotten the essential role of a free and balanced press in democracyThe constitution doesn't say anything about balance. I tend to favor the argument that balance is best achieved by using multiple sources, in the hopes that their conflicting biases will become apparent, rather than expecting each outlet to be balanced.
The current incestuous family of big business ownership of major media in this country reduces the value of multiple sources, but the fact that Fox does stand out indicates the system is still (sort of) working.
