But we should keep in mind that web sales isn't the whole picture.

The Census Bureau says retail sales were $453B in April 2016. Amazon's annual sales are $70B (I don't know if that includes AWS and all the rest).

Big companies want to grow by squishing smaller competitors. Film at 11. It's not a web thing.

It's a bit different. At least so far. AFAIK, Amazon isn't doing per-browser exclusivity agreements or something. ;-)

Of course, one needs to keep an eye on large companies, no matter what.

One of them has appalling taste in home decor, but if this is symptomatic of brain damage I submit that long-term exposure to the cultural vacuum of the San Fernando Valley is at least as plausible a proximate cause.
