New speaking of steak
(this brachiates from a thread in "Flame Off" today, and I was tempted to post it in "Flame On" for reasons that will become apparent directly)

Ladies and gentlesteers, I give you Eisenhower Steak!. The local Food Whole occasionally sells so-called "tomahawk steaks," four-inch thick ribeyes that appear to match the description in the article ("a Brobdingnagian rib-eye with short rib attached, about two feet long"). I am keen to attempt this.

carnivorously,
New I'm not going to lay my steak on the coals
I believe it can work, but I'm not going to risk a $40 hunk of beef on an experiment.

What I am going to do, though, is throw a rib roast in the rotisserie.

New Re: I'm not going to lay my steak on the coals
If I ever try this thing, I'll report it here.

cordially,
New I'm with you on that.
No sense in making an ash of yourself or the steak! :)

Grilling on a Weber works for me.

New Yeah, that would be a mis-steak

New Let someone do the grilling on a Weber for you

New Did not know about that!

New you can do it on wood coals, I would not do it on charcoal

New Re: you can do it on wood coals, I would not do it on charcoal
The article specifies this: do not employ charcoal "briquets." My first thought, following the link, was "no fucking way." But hardwood charcoal, once the surface ash is blown away, will not coat your steak with a layer of grit.

chardially,
