Sorry to hear about the 0-s.

My primary taste is blues, so most of the stuff in my collection sounds (or is...) a tad older. However, here's a couple of shots:

Creedence Clearwater Revival should need no intro;
The Blasters - early '80s rockabilly, and apparently still around. Made it into a few soundtracks;
Jerry Lee Lewis - can hardly walk now, but the man still knows his way around a piano
Queen - one of the few male leads who could actually sing...
Bonnie Raitt - blues/rock slide guitar
Susan Tedeschi - definitely inspired by Bonnie, good enough to jam with Clapton and BB King but sadly appears to have halted her solo career.
Los Lobos - Just a band from East LA. (Almost forgot. Oops)

Tangerine Dream - electronic
Gary Numan - electro-pop pioneer
Eurythmics - 80s electro-pop. Annie Lennox has one of the best voices still around

And a couple of Aussies (ran into both back in Belgium. Excellent small scale live shows):
Dave Hole - ferocious slide guitar blues,
Ganga Giri - drum/beats + didgeridoo

And I've plugged Triggerfinger here before :-)
