Matt Uebel:
I'm sure people who bought a dual flopppy 8088 IBM PC felt the same way. Still...
Cheers,
Scott.
But the other side of the coin is - after struggling (and failing) to stablize KitKat for 3 months (If anything, they've gone downwards - While some users started having problems immediately after XE16 went live, I didn't start having issues until XE18.x - the XE18 series has rendered my Glass unit nearly unusable.), Google has suddenly thrown extra RAM at the problem without fixing the issues on 1GB devices.
I'm not sure if 2GB RAM is going to solve the rampant issues KitKat has had on Glass, after all, there are many OTHER reasons for KitKat to fail on OMAP4 hardware (although, again, Glass' simplified UI and reduced-res screen SHOULD make it easier here...), but I have seen some claims that people who had massive issues with 1GB units have been having no issues with 2GB units...
Which puts more evidence indicating that 2GB RAM for Glass is not a "nice to have" upgrade that enables future growth - it's a critical fix required for Glass Explorers merely to return to pre-KitKat levels of functionality. Even though it would suck to pay MORE for Glass, I'd be willing to pay a nominal upgrade fee, but right now, the choices are shelling out another $1500 or having your existing $1500 device be a paperweight.
