The battery service life depends greatly on how deeply they are discharged. Getting below 50% charge on a regular basis really hurts.
My RV's "house" (vs truck) batteries are 2 Trojan-105 220 Ah 6 volt batteries connected in series. They are charged by the truck alternator (via an isolator) while driving, street power when plugged in at a campground (via a converter), and by solar power (160 Watts max via a controller) whenever the sun shines.
A couple years ago I installed a battery monitor which measures all current in and out. We were going to be "off the grid" for 9 days at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and I wanted to limit my electronic toy usage if necessary. No problems!
