New Downloadable client?
So instead of saying "green pixel here, 27 more follow" the server says "Evil Boss <mood = x, speech = 'open source sux'> here". Lower bandwidth, but...

Hmmm, .PNG is slow, 2d client is free, 3d client is two bux, developement platform license shockingly expensive...

OK, it's a bit 1995, but could be fun.

New PNG slow?
Are we talking the graphics format? In my experience, slowness is offset by the fact that graphic files sizes are considerably smaller than GIF.

New PNG is pixels
And that makes it slow.

As pixel-based formats go, it's real good.

I was kind of getting silly. If you convinced most of your readers to install a client that essentialy draws Ubersoft from simple instructions, it would reduce bandwidth considerably. My guess is that the instructions would be in the 1-2K range. But that's unlikely to happen for a number of reasons.

It would be cool, though.
