Lower bandwidth, but... Hmmm, .PNG is slow, 2d client is free, 3d client is two bux, developement platform license shockingly expensive... OK, it's a bit 1995, but could be fun. I am not a man, I am a free number.

If you convinced most of your readers to install a client that essentialy draws Ubersoft from simple instructions, it would reduce bandwidth considerably. My guess is that the instructions would be in the 1-2K range. But that's unlikely to happen for a number of reasons. It would be cool, though. I am not a man, I am a free number.
