Hi,
My T61 is continuing to give me periodic fits under XP (blue screening and complaining of unstated (and thus far unfindable) hardware faults almost like clockwork every 2 days). I'm planning on trying the latest Ubuntu for a while, but would like to be able to seamlessly access my installed Winders applications and files.
I believe I've seen mention of some VM systems being able to boot a Windows installation rather than requiring a separate client install. Is that right? Can Virtual Box or another "free" VM system do it? I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to do that thus far for VB. Alternatively, is there a way to construct a virtual Windows machine from an installed Win2k or XP partition?
Or, is there another way to skin this cat? I'm trying to minimize reinstallation time and headaches, and rather seamlessly share stuff between a VM in an Ubuntu boot and a real XP boot.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Scott.
