New Do your research
on game bluray vs regular players.

It seems (but I have no proof, only conversations with people who seemed to know what they are talking about) that the PS3 is very noisy compared to a regular player, which means the quiet parts of the movie get screwed.

The game salesguy (pure gamer geek) steered me away from spending $350 on a PS3, and instead I ended up with a $250 Samsung bluray that I love.
New Thanks for the heads up
I will bear it in mind. Is the noise sufficient to warrant a separate player if I were to play games on the PS3?
New Possibly
I seem to have developed a buzz in the surround speakers out of the PS3. Doesn't matter at all when you're blasting holes in aliens...but in quiet moments of feature films...it is a bit annoying.

Right now I'm running via optical out...I have yet to try HDMI out...since my AV unit doesn't support it.
I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.
New Thanks for the example
The guy was referring to the mechanical aspects of the disk drive, but this is a good point as well.
