New Bush backs Jeb for White House
[link|http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/05/10/national/w075350D23.DTL|SF Gate]
President Bush suggested Wednesday that he'd like to see his family's White House legacy continue, perhaps with his younger brother Jeb as the chief executive.

The president said Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is well-suited for another office and would make "a great president."

"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," Bush said in an interview with Florida reporters, according to an account on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

Jeb has said he is not going to run in 2008. But it looks like some people really want him to.

It would seem, therefore, that the three human impulses embodied in religion are fear, conceit, and hatred. The purpose of religion, one might say, is to give an air of respectibility to these passions. -- Bertrand Russell

"So don't pay attention to the approval ratings that say 68% of Americans disapprove of the job this man is doing. I ask you this, does that not also logically mean that 68% approve of the job he's not doing? Think about it. I haven't."

New Moot point: Jeb don't wanna do it

New If they/he really wanted to be President
He should've lost the last Governor race in Florida and moved up to Washington to "work" with his brother. Then, at the 2004 elections, they could've dropped Cheney and moved him into the VP slot...setting him up to continue policies for 2008.

But I think Jeb is a little smarter than Dubya. (Not much, but a little).
New I'm not sure that would help Jeb
I've been half expecting them to do something like that for quite a while, at least until Bush's popularity tanked recently. Put somebody they want to come after Bush into the VP slot to give them an advantage in 2008.

But I'm not sure that would help Jeb under the best of circumstances. Having Jeb as the VP would look to much like what is was, a planned family succession. Jeb need to look like somebody outside Bush's circle for the election.

New Oh yeah, there's an endorsement that's compelling

New What's the National Debt under Bush 41 & 43?
Something like $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS and counting...

American can't afford another Bush in the White House.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow
