New At least it is assigned to Colin Watson.
Of all the developers I have had contact with in the Ubuntu/Debian Heirarchy, he is by far one of the best ones.

Steve Langasek is also one of the better ones in there, but I am not sure if he is working with Ubuntu like many of the other Debian developers.

New apt-get update;apt-get upgrade fixes it AFAIK.

When somebody asks you to trade your freedoms for security, it isn't your security they're talking about.

New As does 'apt-get update;apt-get install base-config passwd'

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 Historical Review of Pennsylvania
New Essentially a local root exploit
But easy enough to fix - I just edited /var/log/installer/cdebconf/questions.dat to remove the two references to my password. (Apparently if you're not working on the installer, it is safe to delete the file.)

Cheers,
Ben

  1. I've heard it before; and
  2. I didn't care the first time.
