Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Character set for z?
I'm seeing a LRPD with a bad apostrophe. I know the failing is in my pathetic attempt to render the enlightenment that is the GRR, but I don't know what code page to use to see this properly:
Pacifist or not, Gandhi\ufffd\ufffd\ufffds got to be chuckling about now.

New I've seen a few like that on Win32.
Not very often, but I've seen a few like that on Win2k. They started appearing a few weeks ago, IIRC. But I haven't seen any recently.

Whoops. Searching Z for "\ufffd\ufffds" isn't a good idea. It returns 69,936 articles. Google doesn't seem to want to search on "\ufffd\ufffds" - it returns results for "s".

Firefox is using Western (ISO 8859-1) here. FWIW.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Unicode; prolly UTF-8, but I can't recall for sure. HTH! :-)
New There's monkey business afoot.

The diamond with a question mark in it is the "unknown character" character.

Encoding was set to Unicode via the menu.

New Most likely the result of a windows-1252 cut and paste job
The [link|http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/fffd/index.htm|Unicode replacement character] is coming from the server, so regardless of what you set the browser to, the display will be garbage.

You'll encounter similar shenanigans with the subsitution job M$ pulls on hyphens.
New I knew Winders was behind it all. :-) Thanks.
