You have rye grass, and roots, pigs, sheep and cows. Your preservatives were salt and vinegar. The vinegar was made from booze that even the healthiest boozers wouldnt swaller. Given even worse conditions the Poles blended French, Russian and Turkish elements with what was locally available to produce some damned good food. Of course they were the hub of major trade routes between Turkey and Sweden and France and Russia so I suppose that helped. [link\|http://www.aaxnet.com\|AAx]
