Fast Food
A San Jose woman bit a finger while eating chili at a Wendy's restaurant. Problem is, it wasn't her finger. The finger portion was 1-3/8 inch long and probably female judging by the "long manacured nail".
Santa Clara County health authorities have seized the ingredients at the restaurant and are trying to trace the manufacturer. Los Angeles Times 3-24-2005 page B4.

Not good for business, though, insulting your customers like that.

Re: Fast Food
I heard the beginning of that story on a news teaser but never heard the rest. They left me hanging. What could it be they found in the chili? A rat? A bandage? A condom? A finger!! Well of course! Now that I know I'll sleep better tonight.

More on the finger.
The woman who found the finger in the chili has a history of multiple litigations against corporations, including at least one fast food company. It is now suspected she provided the finger herself since no other way has been found for it to have entered the chili. Police have searched the "victim's" house and are investigating further.
Wendy's has posted a $50,000 reward for verifiable information leading to identification of the finger.

She's dropped the claim
[link|http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=665523|Woman Won't Sue Wendy's for Alleged Finger] Anna Ayala dropped her claim because it "has caused her great emotional distress and continues to be difficult emotionally," said her attorney, Jeffrey Janoff. Yeah, right, that's the ticket.

Finger IDed
[link|http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4546041.stm|US police identify chilli finger] It belonged to a family friend of Anna Ayala, the woman who said she discovered the finger as she ate in a restaurant in San Jose, California.

Questions that come to mind
1. Why did he save a severed finger? Odd that he didnt seek medical attention to try to get the finger reattached. If he had, I'm sure the doc wouldnt let him walk out with with the finger in a baggie.
2. The finger was said to have a manicured, female-looking nail when it was found in the chili. Did the man routinely manicure his nails or did he pretty it up after it was severed? Either choice is equally disturbing.
I also heard that the woman and the nine-fingered man may have been having an affair. The plot thickens.......
