Fedora Core managed to screw up the nVidia device driver during a kernel update never to be set right again. The nVidia device driver had been a major PITA to set up to begin with. Ubuntu was incredibly easy to install and I'm posting from it now. Thanks, Peter! But, I do note that Firefox is version 0.9.3 so they are slow in propagating updates. Also, installed a gnome program needed by mozilla-firefox and opened up the floodgates for a bunch more updates. All is well with firefox now. Thanks!
