Welcome to IWETHEY!

New So you have to be a Mac owner then?
Or does it support other OS?

I know Windows has a "proggy or two" to work with it... but really is it good?

I am looking at getting a mac-mini or even a (Dual)G5 etc... or recently I've been needing/wanting a Laptop.

Based on everything I have seen recently with "ONE THOUSAND YEARS OF PAIN" for Linux support in laptops *STILL*, I've been considering a PowerBook or iBook.

I dunno, maybe I just need and 800 MHz laptop that has a few keys that dunnah work proper. Of course $DATE_AVAILABLE is some what unknown.

We shall see.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
New Mepis is really good with my ThinkPad T41.
I've discussed some of the goods and bads [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=184560|here]. and in subsequent posts. Sound I got working by turning off the Mute button. I got the wireless 802.11b working by using ProMepis.

I haven't tried your Java update fix yet. Too many irons in the fire...

The Powerbook is a nice machine though. We've got a 667 MHz G4 TiBook with 1 GB of RAM. It's fine for web and Office stuff.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Gonna set up my Power Mac as dual-boot
when Tiger comes out. Till then, it's still my PPC Linux test box.

Mixed results so far.

New It's mainly for Mac owners

but the online storage (iDisk) is just a WebDAV share so you can easily mount it on a Windows box.

They have a good Web-based mail client that's cross-platform.

However, the 'iTools' (iLife, iSync, AddressBook, etc.) have the .Mac integration that makes it really worthwhile.

As I say, not for everyone, but darn convenient.

And even if we were to live in that alternate universe where they would be right, they'd still be wrong.
