Welcome to IWETHEY!

New yep
I was offered the bluetooth upgrade but I turned it down because I don't want to use the Apple mouse. I want multiple buttons and a scroll wheel.

I'm looking forward to the improved performance, but I might have to give up my second monitor. I currently have 2 screens: the 1280 by 854 on the laptop and the 1152 by 864 (I think) on a second monitor. For a total screen area of 2,088,448 pixels. The iMac comes with a 1680 by 1050 screen for a total of 1,764,000 pixels. Over 15% smaller. The way I work now I have my email, chat and editor on the laptop screen and multiple terminal windows (iTerm with it's tabs really helps here) and browsers on the 2nd monitor. I use all the screen real estate I have. So I'm not looking forward to the reduction.
Have fun,
Carl Forde
New No multiple desktops?
I've never even considered multiple screens, because I have 8 desktops. There's never a lack of real estate, and the switching is both second nature and helpful in that I group things on each screen (chat on one, docs-in-browsers on the next, several code screens, one for each project, a VMWare screen, and a catch-all where I throw things like Gabber control windows and calendars).

New So true
I've mapped one of my trackball's extra buttons to trigger expose.

New I really miss expose when I don't have it
One of the advantages of a large amount of real estate is being able to read the code here and see the results there without flipping between views. Expose doesn't really help with that. There's no substitute for pixels ([link|http://www.discoverboating.com/articles/articles.asp?id=93|or something like that]).
Have fun,
Carl Forde
New DiscoverBoating?!?
I thought your link would be to something like [link|http://www.boingboing.net/2004/11/15/jumbotron_of_your_ow.html|this].

:-)

Cheers,
Scott.
New True
I have 2 19" flat panels at work. Makes a big difference when I can have VB, tora, and executable all visible.

Before the LCDs I had a 17" with two 15" monitors on either side. Some of the coworkes used to laugh about it, yet now there's a number of users with multiple monitors.

New Can I tell Expose to group windows arbitrarily?
And keep them that way?

If not, then it's useless to me.

google turned up [link|http://www.codetek.com/ctvd/|CodeTek VirtualDesktop] and [link|http://space.sourceforge.net/|space.app]. Probably others as well.

New Found a bluetooth problem work around
use USB 2.0 hubs. Only thing I don't like is the new hubs I picked up don't power down like my old one did - any USB devices with LEDs light up the room after I shut down for the night.

I went with the bluetooth because I knew I'd want to use it in the future with cell phones and such. I did the bundle because the bluetooth was $50 and the keyboard $70 while the bluetooth/keyboard/mouse bundle was $100. I already had the trackball I wanted to use.
