That was my argument to begin with, how could it learn without negative input. If the input was artificially applied you are just programming a biologic computer.

And yes, nerve cells produce current chemically. Sensory impulses are still electrical. The rat-brain computer essentially learned to fly over time.

"But over time, the neural network slowly adapts as the brain learns to control the pitch and roll of the aircraft. After a while, it produces a nice straight and level trajectory."

New now I read it again it still doesnt make sense
how would the plane crashing be any different from a pitch, a yaw or a level flight to a petrie dish full of cells? So why would it "learn" to fly?

New Negative result is 'crashing'
Positive, level flight.

Think learning to walk (on a simpler scale) walking is a positive result, negative is falling.

Or -

Crashing 'hurts'.

crashing would be the same as flying level why would they care or recognise the difference?

The brain doesn't feel 'pain' after all. It just accepts input and provides output.

Just like the complex of nerve cells they put together for this experiment...
