Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Yup, and I'm *not* going to tell anyone about my new problem
A bunch of Gnome stuff isn't working. Bascially all panel applets are busted. Will post a question if I can't figure it out.

[Edit]
Okay, I can't figure it out.

Trying to add a clock applet:
The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet".
Details: Failed to resolve, or extend '!prefs_key=/apps/panel/profiles/default/applets/applet_8/prefs;background=none:;orient=down;size=x-small;locked_down=false

Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?
Hmm, can't change my wallpaper either.

New Hate to say this, but...
Any time I've had a big nasty Gnome problem like that, I've had to remove my Gnome settings completely and start from scratch.

New Already *way* beyond that
I decided to fix a nagging issue. I had a package 'libbonobo-activation' that wouldn't upgrade without removing gnome and everything else associated with it. It was a virtual package. So I decided to remove it. It wanted to remove gnome and everything else associated with it. I figured, "Okay, it's always been wrong. I'll let it remove everything, reinstall gnome, and I'll be good."

Nope. Now gdm starts, but I never get any windows. Window manager doesn't seem to start. Hmm ...

New That's not enough.
Removing Gnome doesn't remove your local Gnome settings, which are in ~/.gnome or something similar.

New Yeah, but why isn't the window manager starting any more?
Will try whacking the settings.

Nope, didn't fix it. Time to see what gdm is trying to start ...
