I missed the Earthlink one. I can't tell if the source is messed up in Mozilla, or if that's part of the scam, but the link looks like it goes to earthlink.net to me.

ah,,,
I didn't realize we could view the source or anything like that, I went purely on reading them and trusting them or not.
I wouldn't even have known how to view the source, John does that sort of thing. Like I said, it's moot for me, cause I wouldn't touch anything like that without him here.

7 out of 10
But I don't have a lot of experience reading things like that, anything that comes up like that, I set aside and wait for John to see. I never click on anything or do anything like that without him being there.
I mostly got the Paypal things wrong, and I've never used paypal, so that doesn't surprise me.

Ah...

But I was hamstrung by some of the JavaScript not working in Opera. :-)

What javascript?
Oh, we don't all use a proxy that tranparently takes it out if you don't want it? Curious.

Risk Management of JavaScript.
Although I once browsed with JavaScript disabled, I do not do so know. It was not entirely due to too many web-sites which "needed" JavaScript that made me change - for a while there were a few that were inconvenient and I started leaving it on with no ill-effects. Besides, I've recently doen some JavaScript developement (it's not the world's best language but most of the crappiness is actually the DOM implementation, not JavaScript in and of itself) and learnt more of what it is capable of and how. Think of it "know thine enemy" if you like, but I don't find it's presence in my web browser a threat.
Email is, of course, another thing. It doesn't belong there.
Wade.

"Phishing"?
If it's not immediately identifiable it's spam.

Then you were guessing
Sure, some were stupid and obvious. But a couple weren't. When you hit submit for your final score, were you SURE? Without the slightest doubt?

Yep
Metric:
Does it threaten you with cosing your account/some other bad thing unless you CLICK THIS LINK? Fraud.
Does it provide you a "valid link" and tell you to click it? Fraud.
Does it not have any links that you must click on, and is merely informative? Legit.
Does it give you steps to perform, as in the "Log in to Paypal, click this link on that page once you're logged in" one, without providing a link to "Log in to Paypal"? Legit.

10 of 10
Almost blew the first one since it sounded so much like spam. Then I realized it was MSN spamming it's own customers.
Most blew it on the most obvious check. If the link lists the URL of an address but is actually linked to something else it's faked.
The biggest problem I had was the way they modified the links with javascript, which doesn't work in Firefox here for some reason.
