Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Javascript has similar syntax to VB, too.
Javascript is an entirely dynamic language.

Java is strongly typed.

The object/class systems are entirely different as well.

The only similarity, other than both being somewhat object-oriented and sharing a generic OO-like syntax, is the name.

New Thank you. Now look up the word "unrelated"
-drl
New Are "related" to the 127 listed residents of Alaska
with the same family name as yours?
New After you look up "pedantic"
For all useful intents and purposes, they are unrelated. Thanks for playing, drive through.

New Care to answer the original question?
I don't know if JS or J is broken - chances are pretty high that the Sun VM interacts strongly with the WSH. I never had problems with the original MS setup.
-drl
New If you use it enough to care about a fix...
Then you care enough to install an alternative.

Casual (not business) users of IE who can't be arsed to install something better won't meet with much sympathy (or help, for that matter), I think.

You're especially not going to get much help without a clearer description of the problem (Javascript applet??).

New Re: If you use it enough to care about a fix...
I don't have a better description. It's previously unseen behavior - not an outright crash, but clunky, typical of third party stuff on Windows.
-drl
New You don't have steps to reproduce it?
Which radar loops? Which "Javascript" applets?

New Re: You don't have steps to reproduce it?
I just uninstalled the Sun JRE and Java Web Start. We'll see what happens. I've got everything back to "normal" for Windows.

The main symptoms were - sluggish network and image painting.

Right now it's fine.
-drl
New WOW - instantly better
Snap, the pages load instantly.

-drl
New Why are chances high that the Sun JVM interacts with WSH?
Given Microsoft's relationship with Java, I'd say the chances are, in fact, minimal.

Remember, kids - Java != Javascript. (Or ECMAScript. Or LiveScript. Or whatever you'd like to call it.)

New Tested, passed
There is no question now that the Sun JRE was the issue.

Love those undocumented Windows hooks.
-drl
New No one ever *needs* a Java applet. ;-p
