New Linksys wireless security
My next door neighbor set their business up with wireless PCs. I believe anybody can sniff the traffic based on our discussions. I volunteered to look into securing it.

Got any pointers?

Based on my limited reading, I need to turn on some type of encryption which I assume it there already, then modify each client to enable the same method.

I'm waiting for her to give me the model number of the router for me to DL the manual.
New Even with WEP on...
...It's basically a borked protocol. Anyone with about 30 minutes and some automated tools can break WEP encryption just by sniffing the packets. Just something to keep in mind.

New 128bit? Hmm
-drl
New Would you say it's sufficient for domestic use, though?
I think it probably is.

New He specified for business use, however.
I use it often at my house. Hell, I haven't even turned WEP on. I really don't much care. But business != home.

New Re: Linksys wireless security
- Turn off Broadcast SSID
- Use 128 bit (or 256 bit if available) WEP. While it is weak, it's another layer of protection.
- set MAC ID Filtering. This also isn't perfect, but makes it tougher.
- Use infrastructure mode

These things will at least make crackers work to get in, normal war-drivers won't see it.
