Welcome to IWETHEY!

New That's entertainment
On Turner Classic Movies between now and Sunday night's Oscars, all showings are "Best Picture" winners! Uncut in the original released versions, restored when appropriate. Crank up the VCR!

Schedule: [link|http://turnerclassicmovies.com/|http://turnerclassicmovies.com/]

Some things you most likely haven't seen in a while:

"Grand Hotel"
"Ms. Minerver"
"West Side Story" (only Best Pic I've never seen)
"Oliver!"
"Marty"
"Midnight Cowboy"

Turner could make this a pay channel and movie buffs like yours T would pay.

New Heh heh heh...
"Grand Hotel"
"Ms. Minerver"
"West Side Story" (only Best Pic I've never seen)
"Oliver!"
"Marty"
"Midnight Cowboy"
The only one you haven't seen is the only one (on that list) I have seen. Then again, I'm not much of an old-time movie buff.

Either way, be sure to catch "West Side Story." It's a great show, music and all (yes, Peter, musicals do have redeeming value.)

New Tonight's the night
..I get to finally see it!

New Great!
I think you'll love Russ Tamblyn's performance (Riff's), and Natalie Wood's (Maria's)was just superb. She was so wonderful when she was younger, I adore her as an actress.

Rita Moreno is a real treat too as Anita, she is fun and exciting, and Richard Beymer, (Tony) is really good as well.

The score is exciting, and Bernstein and Sondheim make a wonderful pairing. All in all, West Side Story is my third favorite movie OVER ALL others.

Enjoy it!

New Re: Great!
Personal preference, I'll take Rita Moreno as Juliet any day over Natalie Wood, and I really like Natalie Wood...

The music is by Leonard Bernstein and I'm really looking forward to that.

New So Ross,
What did you think of West Side Story? :)

I did a 10K wheelchair race once. The guy
who pushed me still has the whip-marks.
New No...
I don't know anyone who is using it. I know someone who intends to when he is done getting the box set up. That person has now spent several times what a Tivo would cost (not counting labour).

By contrast I know lots of people who are in love with Tivo.

Cheers,
Ben

New I'm using my MythTV.
And no, I haven't spent several times the cost. All told (hardware, TiVo subscription, DVD writer) I've spent a good deal less than the equivalent.

I've got the TV, weather, browser, and news feed stuff up and going (most of which was just an 'apt-get install').

While it is more labor intensive to get going, the results are much more satisfying.

New I wasn't thinking of you...
And I tease my co-worker about that. :-)

Honestly, I believe that most of his cost is that he was going out of his way to make the package as quiet as possible.

New That would do it.
I would guess he's using one of those EPIA boxes then, the little itty ones. That can get expensive in a hurry... pcmcia cards, notebook drives, etc.

Regardless, now you know ONE person who is using it. ;-)
