Small nit

MP3.com is down, but only because its new parent corp is trying to reinvent it as a site just like Apple's "99 cents a song". That's too bad, because you used to be able to get tons of unknown band tunes for free as a way to get to know them. Groups I never knew existed (or would have bought their music) were introduced to me through an intensely musically inclined friend.

I didn't know why it was down. I thought maybe the RIAA hit them because some Artists still on contract were releasing songs on MP3.com and they quickly got taken off the service.

99 cents a song is still better than not having yet another source to download from. Yet I do agree that it was a good way to learn about new groups and get their songs for free. No such thing as free music anymore, or if there is, I cannot find it except for P2P File Sharing apps that are having users of said apps being hit hard by the RIAA for sharing MP3s.

And I hope

that they KEEP the artists that distribute for free, available for free.

Think of what a great tool that would be for thier advertising... Being able to say 'free and premium music' or some such...
