New I like spybot.
I installed both, and it got more stuff than adaware, on my system at least. Plus, spyware will update your hosts file to point most ad urls to localhost. Not sure if adaware does that.

Highly recommended. You can set up a local webserver to put pretty pictures where the ads are supposed to be :)
