Confirmed bug
zIWT wraps the 'code' text in 'pre' tags. <code> itself is an inline, not block, element. The difference between 'tt' and 'code' is equivalent to that between 'i' and 'em' or 'b' and 'bold' tags. 'tt' specifies presentation. 'code' denotes content.
