Ben
You need to arrive the night before.

I think you missed Bill's point...
Allow me to arrive, but do not even think of assisting.
Or do you want another car sideswiped?
For people who don't remember what I am talking about, see [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=44682|http://z.iwethey.org...w?contentid=44682].

Yeah but
in order to ensure your arrival you need a lot more time. I figure you should leave the same time Greg does.

80 miles?
8 days.

I walk faster than that
And "along a road" is pretty easy hiking.
Still we are probably talking 3-4 days.

You could do it in one day with enough training.
Of course, you'd be so sore and tired you'd have to rest up for two or three days.
The world is only a simple place to the simple.

I know that...
I was describing what I think is reasonably within my current limits without undue excess pain afterwards.

Average human walking pace is 3 miles/hr
So you could do around 24 - 27 miles a day, if you set your mind to it.

4 for me
I still remember being practically dragged by my fast walking Mom, so to survive I learned to scoot.

I do 4 also, but only for the first mile or 2, then slower.

Mine is faster but...
With a pack most people slow down. (Anyone who has done some long hikes knows what I am talking about.:-)

My current planning horizon is about 3 weeks...
I remember nothing...
