To our good, the Soviets were fighting a war of occupation and were constantly hampered by the fact that they were facing a foe funded by the West, and Russian men who lost sight of the roads and landmarks they knew were in serious danger of not finding their way back. We are not facing a foe funded by a superpower, we do not care about occupying land, and today we have GPS.

To our bad we are facing a foe whose idea of victory is managing to get enough support in other Muslim countries to turn this into a broader war...
