Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I'm going to recommend a friend
But only because he is a friend.

Because high volume email on commodity hardware is his business.

And because he is sure to ask some hard questions, and I trust him to be unhelpful if the situation warrants.

Try [link|mailto:nelson@crynwr.com|nelson@crynwr.com] who runs [link|http://www.crynwr.com|www.crynwr.com].

Cheers,
Ben
New Re: I'm going to recommend a friend
Wow.

The original packet drivers.
I used his token ring shim driver
to pretend it was an ethernet
card on Dos 10 years ago.

Actually, I think I've narrowed
it down.

3 Linux boxen, Reiser FS, qmail.
Co-loed at ISP.

Our ISP was the original Sanford Wallace
ISP, and they are REAL careful. A hint
of resending after someone told you not
to and they yank your box. Having your
entire ISP range of addresses black-holed
does that to you.

New Could I make a recommendation.
If you have never set up qmail before - or even if you have and wondered why it was such a chore - could I recommend [link|http://www.courier-mta.org/|Courier] instead. It was originally a qmail alternative (!), using maildir as it's native format and borrows qmail's .qmail files for end-user configuration. It's not the complete solution you requested, though, which is why I didn't suggest it earlier.

New Saved by the greed
Actually, I have setup qmail.
It's easy.

(said after I almost killed myself over it).

Doesn't matter. The client was not 100% honest
about how much they would be willing to pay for the
service, (what would you expect from people
already spamming?) which killed the deal.

I may be scum, but at least I'm not cheap scum.
New You have a slightly odd definition of "easy"
I found Qmail interesting and funky the first time. After I had to find and re-compile another, unrelated piece of software to do something Mr Bernstein has decided he won't patch qmail to do* The second time, it was just painful. Courier is much nicer to setup.

Wade.

* Which is configurable relaying. Courier has a whole configuration file devoted to this.
