Here in Oz we are seeing Home unit & Apartment prices stall, it is believed they may even be declining slightly due to massive oversupply. Rents for these type of properties are well under what is reasonable for the going purchase prices. Q. Are any of you seeing this as a trend in US ? Q. Has the market their for same type of properties already gone down ? Re Houses. We have been seeing them go up for the past 2 years. They seem to be levelling out but not declining like units/apartments. Q. How is housing market in general there (allowing for regional quirks) ? House prices haven't been rising, but houses have been selling like mad, due to the really low interest rates. Actually, because the US is so freaking big I think it depends on what part of it -- up here in Albany it's definately a seller's market, in Raleigh it was a buyers market all the way. I don't believe this is a tech-specific depression anymore. Who is doing well? Apart from the fat cats with the bonuses for hosing their companies I mean. I've got sufficient cash for 6 months - then I start dumping possessions on the market. My job hunt has produced exactly 4 calls.
