Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I must be blind
Didn't have any luck googling, but I recalled reading something in VOICE that LAME was now being complied using the latest GCC. I sent Paul an email yesterday asking where to find it.

I just checked it again to see who I'd sent the email to and the announcement directly above the LAME announcement is
GCC v3.2.1 for OS/2 released

There is a build of the GCC v3.2.1 compiler for OS/2 sitting on the OS/2 Netlabs FTP site in the incoming directory.

It's currently residing in [link|ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/incoming/gcc-3.2.1-r2|ftp://ftp.netlabs.or...ming/gcc-3.2.1-r2] but will probably be moved soon to [link|ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc|ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc]
I just checked Netlabs and see it's already been moved to [link|ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/gcc-3.2.1-r2|ftp://ftp.netlabs.or.../gcc/gcc-3.2.1-r2]

New I for one am glad to see...
That GCC is becoming more and more common on more and more platforms...

I get all teary eye'd upon seeing it.

Now, I wonder if Microsoft could/would try to compile Windows with it someday soon... maybe already have...

I know, IBM has done some real work in bring GCC readily available to the AIX crowd. So has HP for the HP-PA and (what used to be DEC) for the Alpha.

Maybe Intel will finally start to push GCC now that they are getting heavily involved with it...

I know AMD has a few people in on it's development.

We shall see.

New I'm wondering
Since GCC is now used for the O/2 port of Mozilla, will GNU make OS/2 an "offically supported" platform...

New It would really...
Breathe life back into OS/2. Not that it is dead, by any means... just that things woudl once again prove OS/2 critics to be wrong.

New Fark the cat...
...OS/2 has more lives. ;)
After 9/11, Bush made two statements:
1. "Terrorists hate America because America is a land of freedom and opportunity."
2. "We intend to attack the root causes of terrorism."

Sounds like everything is going according to plan.
New So we hava a GCC capable of compiling . .
. . a program as large and complex as Mozilla. What does this mean for the ability to port Open Office to OS/2?
