Meantime, I'm stuck with the fascit's software. Both Acrobat Reader and Acrobat (v5) insist on fully populating toolbars and sidebars for every fucking document I open. There's no preference I can find to override this. Anyone here know if I'm being blind?

F8 to turn off toolbars...

Sidebars are controlled at the document level.
You may or may not be able to turn them off
depending on how a document is protected (or
not)....check document properties.
