More context would be useful. What messages you get, at what point in the boot process, can make a hell of a difference.

As for LILO boot messages, see /usr/share/doc/lilo/Manual.txt.gz. Specifically:

\r\nLI The first stage boot loader was able to load the second stage boot loader, but has failed to execute it. This can either be caused by a geometry mismatch or by moving /boot/boot.b without running the map installer.\r\n

Double and triple check your /etc/lilo.conf. Rerun 'lilo'. If you run into problems, post more detail here, or Google on the messages.
