New I doubt we will see the aircraft
I doubt we will see the Iraqi aircraft for more then one desperate gesture. The moment an Iraqi plane takes into the air, we would swarm in under with F-15s. That said, Iraq is supposed to have 100 or so Mirage F1s, which are out of date, but not nearly as much as the Migs they tried to use during the first Gulf War.

I am aware that we no longer keep hearing of reports of Apache squadrons going in to kick Iraqi ass. It seems Saddam's boys found a strategy that so damaged the first major attack near Bagdhad that they *never* reached their objective, lost one intact machine, & all others returned with varying degrees of damage. The pilots we had quoted here spoke of flying through a hornets nest of ground fire.

The Russian site I mentioned before said we where trying use the Apaches as if they where flying tanks, puting them in large groups and using them on offense by themselves. This tactic has supposedly been reversed and the Apaches broken up into small units attached to the ground forces for support and recon.

New Wouldn't that be F-16s?
I was under the impression that the F-15 was a ground-attack plane, and the F-16 was the air superiority plane...
God does not play dice with the universe: He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.
New No the other way around
the F-15 is the air superiority fighter, although both can be used in both roles.
New Thanks.

Worst case, tell your boss it's a new kind of ultra-XML -- not quite invisible, but only very sophisticated and intelligent people can see it...
