Bottom line though: Operations staff are NOT systems programmers. One step above tape monkey, and not very far.
Very little JCL required. In our company, in the entire chain of operations staff, about 7 people, on one would be able to read a JES log.
They are not programmers at all. No COBOL. No data awareness.
