New Give a Big Cheetah to CWB!
The world's most reknowned 386.

New Wasn't that...
the name of the hardrive mfgr? I know he named all of his boxen. What was the name of the infamous 386 to which he added the Cheetah? (Is this the original box he had when he first started his column?)

As an aside, of the various celebrity guest writers different tech rags have had over the years, my favorite has always been Penn Gillete. On the "Last Page" of which dead tree magazine?

(anyone remember his April fools article?)

New ICLRPD if I've ever seen one. (new thread)

New I think.. it was a Compu-Pro
Super heavy-duty and fast-for-time S-100 bus thingie. Fast.. prolly limited by memory du jour. Since it was all-new when I got my Osborne1, I tended to look at all the toys. This box was made to decent lab-quality with no shortcuts. (And before Xtra memory became the mantra - believe that the version of CP/M able to address a Whole 128K.. came too little and too late to make much of a ripple - but commercially? I could be way wrong.)

Compu-Pro's digs were located near Oakland CA airport

Anyway, I'm sure a saw such a box in Byte, when he was drooling over the acquisition - and being helped by the mfg. and such.

(Maybe too Big cheetah was YAN box.. it all fades into mist)

New I thought that
Big Cheetah was the name of one of JP's computers. He had given them all whimsical names, if I remember correctly, but I can't remember what they were.
