Welcome to IWETHEY!

New The beginning.
General Freakly said that in an attack like the one on the helicopters, "you have 10 guys lying on top of a building firing R.P.G.'s and small arms." He said, "You can go in and bomb that building and reduce it to rubble," but at the potential cost of many civilian lives.

Ok...and:

The limitless treachery of the vile Arabs, deliberately stashing their daughters overnight in their bedrooms--which they know darn well could be targeted. Their own damned fault, sez I.

They don't care about their own people, they HOPE lots of civilians will get killed for propaganda fodder. Why is this different from every Iraqi soldier taking a 6-year-old child with them into battle?

Not a particle of difference between the two assertions, both of which are the products of your own overwrought imagination.

Not sure where you got the daughters and vile Arabs reference. Sounds like the typical response of someone who needs to inflate another's argument, before they can pop it. The incident I was referring to was a clear case of soldiers locating their attack directly on top of a civilian building, most likely full of people they don't know. If there is no difference between that scenario and the one I proposed...don't see how you can react with glee that these Apache crews refrained from returning fire, and suffered because of it.

If the Iraqi soldiers will prevail and it's Allah's will, why don't they just run directly at the troops with guns blazing, and Allah will protect them?

The incident I was referring to was a clear case of soldiers locating their attack directly on top of a civilian building, most likely full of people they don't know

Maybe the mindset is less "I spit on civilians" than "We're all in this together." Do you imagine that faced with, say, a massive Chinese invasion of these shores US irregulars would shrink from like tactics?

Open your eyes, junior. They. Don't. Want. Us. There. And quite apart from the war's merits or lack thereof, it's foolish for you to keep insisting that we're going in as liberators--forgivable since you are young and unworldly--and criminally negligent for American commanders to share that illusion.

cordially,

"Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist."
New They *love* us in Wogland, Part 2
By deciding to pursue their enemy into the city center, the Americans appeared to have enraged many of the Iraqi civilians who live there, including those who said they were predisposed to support the American effort.

One of those, Mustafa Mohammed Ali, a medical assistant at the Saddam Hospital, said he had spent much of the day hauling dead and wounded civilians out of buildings that had been bombed by the Americans. Mr. Ali that said he had no love for the Iraqi president but that the American's failure to discriminate between enemy fighters and Iraqi civilians had turned him decisively against the American invasion.

"I saw how the Americans bombed our civilians with my own eyes," Mr. Mustafa said, and he held up a bloodied sleeve to show how he had dragged them into the ambulances.

"You want to overthrow Saddam Hussein's regime?" Mr. Mustafa asked. "Go to Baghdad. What are you doing here? What are you doing in our cities?"

Gee, Marlowe's been awfully quiet today...

cordially,
"Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist."
New NOT FAIR. US papers should not be writing stories like that

But it makes sobering reading and reinforces my other post where I argue that some among us can't even read our own press if it tells us things we dont want to hear.

A case of

None so deaf as those who don't want to hear

None so blind as those who don't want to see

None so dumb as those who don't want to think

New Re: They *love* us in Wogland
For the unschooled, "wog" = wise Oriental gentleman (usually disparaging).
-drl
New "Wog" derivation
Also "Worthy Oriental gentleman," in times past used by a particularly insular breed of Englishman to refer to almost anyone east of the Danube. Years ago a friend of mine, who had conceived an abiding but unrequited affection for a female colleague from the Indian subcontinent would refer to her (out of her hearing, to be sure) as a "wogette."

New Heh
My info comes first-hand from a Liverpuglian paralaborer.

During a bitch session I had referred to management as "bloody wogs" without really having any idea what it meant :)

New Yes
And quite astoundingly offensive, too. Be VERY careful where you utter that word if you're this side of the pond.

Nope. The real reason is that we demolished their infrastructure 12 years ago and have had them under sanctions that didn't allow them to rebuild it.

Their army will not be effective in open combat.

Their army will be effective when dug into civilian areas.

We'll see how we handle that situation.
Not enough for you?

Again, stupid move. After 40 days of bombing, the Iraqis were exhausted. They couldn't fight. If we send troops in the first day, they'll be meeting Iraqis who aren't tired. Who still have all of their supplies.
I am a GOD!

Well, compared to certain other individuals.
New I light a votive candle before your image
Hell, I'll even sacrifice a goat. Will Marlowe do?

Yes, Virginia, there Is a Marlowe!
He exists wherever little children look for bogeymen, to make the delicious protection of the covers pulled-over-head feel.. even.. cozier.
He lives! in the hearts of Authoritarians everywhere - for he possesses The One Truth!

Why, if there were no local Marlowe to represent the multitudes who will follow even a Cabal into the BattleforMens'Souls via far-Right-eous Deeds, we would have to invent Him!

You see, my Children, while tis not the Good which Men occasionally do.. which follows them; nay that is oft interred with their bones: it is the Ego which earns that Holy 15-Minutes-of-Fame, that gnat-attracting Flame of conspicuous self-Righteousness, which we all so cherish in the amusements of the day that...

A whole Tee Vee industry portrays this Goodness to us nightly!

So children, tune in that Fox Action News.. note the Firepower via which Ours shall become Victory, all by Ourselves; Us Against the World! (who, sadly, lack the sophistication for Knowing The One Truth, As Do We)

Now, go to sleep and dream of a more Beautiful Tomorrow.. for Goodness' Sake!
