Not as close up though. It turns out that the view from a boat is not as good as the view from my roof. But the company is better on the boat. (This was for a surprise party. My cousin thought she was going on a private dinner cruise with a friend for her 50'th birthday. There were a few more friends along than she expected...) So I now have 2 parties to recover from and not just one... :-) A note for Karsten. Noah was visibly taller on Wednesday than he was on Sunday. (For everone else, my nephew Noah just turned 14 and is about 6' tall. We think he is going to turn out to be a big guy.) Cheers, Ben

Ben's lovely wife was in attendance...as well as n3's lovely SO, boxley's lovely wife and cheeldrun... It was well attended and I am glad that you enjoyed yourself. We did stayt up a little late (or early...depending on your POV) This was the first year of no fireworks after dark...as we had no supply. Besides...these things are not exactly legal in my hometown. Last year the police thought the display was pretty good...and they told me when one of the neighbors complained....otherwise they were content with leaving me alone. Saw Karsten again on his way back through town...now he can cruise in the daylight with less eye strain. And I got a copy of the old IWE archives.
