At least not as wars go. Blame it on Labour. They let the military go to pot. And now they're letting the French dictate Great Britain's foreign policy. Two huge blunders. Greatest incompetence since Chamberlain. That sad excuse for a party is going down. Blair may save his career by jumping ship. He seems to be maneuvering in prep for that. But the party is screwed. If Clinton had had his way with the defense budget, we'd be just as bad off. Thank that Republican Congress we're not utterly defenseless. But lordy, that FBI is a mess. No oil for TotalFinaElf! Britain was practically bankrupted by the backlash against her imperialism combined with war debts. This would have been the case no matter who was in power. It should serve as a warning to us about the outcome of imperial horseplay. -drl
