Tracey Chandler, a Whittier mother of four who has maintained the spontaneous memorial since it was created by other area residents soon after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said she was shocked by the destruction.
"They trashed 87 flags, ripped 11 memorial tiles made by myself and my children out of the ground and glued the Bob Dylan song to a sign that said, 'America, land of the brave, home of the free,' ' she said.
The Bob Dylan song she referred to is "With God on Our Side,' an antiwar anthem of the 1960s.
"It's unbelievable, because there were absolutely no political messages on this fence. It was all about supporting our troops, which could mean bringing them home, and about remembering 9-11.'
I say:
"Anti-war" *is* anti-American. You keep denying it, but then you keep proving it. And you wonder why no one believes you anymore?

It's very simple, but you don't see it.
Hell, if I knew who the idjits were who did this, I'd kick them in the 'nads.
Never mind that Dictator Shrub 'n cronies have been trying to do the same thing to people who disagree with him since PRIOR to 9/11 - C.F. "Free Speech Zones", "If you speak against us, you're a traitor", and other goodies from the White House.
I'm against this war in the form it is currently taking. I'm for getting Mr. Hussein out of power - but not in a way that ends up turning the whole thing into another Viet Nam, what with your chimp ready to sell out the Kurds to the Turks. Yup, just create another oppressed minority which will be ready to blow itself up in 20 years. Really good policy there.
And hell, Korea's the bigger fish right now - Bush just doesn't want to look stupid by admitting this, and maybe secretly he's hoping that California gets nuked by N. Korea, so that he can get rid of a bunch of useless (to him) U.S. citizens who aren't backing his Eternal Rulership. I doubt it, but I wouldn't put it past him.

I vote. (not for Bush)
I oppose this war.
I hope that the USofA will, one day, embody the principles written of in our Constitution (and Bill or Rights).
And, to Marlowe, that makes me anti-American.
Peter, would you please tell the other people over there that we aren't all like Marlowe?
Those demonstrators were wrong. Because you oppose something does NOT give you the right to destroy someone else's property.
