This is often asked about Germany under the Nazis. How could a corporal manage to ruin his nation?

He supports the war, but has real problems with the leader's approach. One can well imagine the German press and elite wrestling with the question of support for Hitler, based partly on pragmatism and partly on a dark desire to right a shamed military and redress national humiliation. I don't think some people in the US ever got over getting whipped in Vietnam.

A lot of the components for the return of the 60s are in place. Given that there are fewer and fewer jobs for my demographic, being a 50ish hippie might be a lot of fun.
