Welcome to IWETHEY!

New the drone buried in the report was reported in major news
outlets about a month ago. It spawned a thread which Brandi(who else) and I discussed usage of said drones stateside. If the US claims they are blind sided we are in serious shit re intelligence gathering apparatus.

New I dont remember them actually >finding< any...
...just talking about the fact that we "knew" he had them and that there was a possibility that they were being shipped here in parts to be reassembled and used stateside. (a stretch)

New Powell talked about drones in his presentation on 5 Feb.
[link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=79908|Marlowe] found the presentation. E.g.

Powell said:

Now, unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs. Iraq has been working on a variety of UAVs for more than a decade. This is just illustrative of what a UAV would look like. This effort has included attempts to modify for unmanned flight the MIG-21 and, with greater success, an aircraft called the L-29.

However, Iraq is now concentrating not on these airplanes but on developing and testing smaller UAVs such as this. UAVs are well suited for dispensing chemical and biological weapons. There is ample evidence that Iraq has dedicated much effort to developing and testing spray devices that could be adapted for UAVs.

And in the little that Saddam Hussein told us about UAVs, he has not told the truth. One of these lies is graphically and indisputably demonstrated by intelligence we collected on June 27th last year.

According to Iraq's December 7 declaration, its UAVs have a range of only 80 kilometers. But we detected one of Iraq's newest UAVs in a test flight that went 500 kilometers nonstop on autopilot in the racetrack pattern depicted here.

Not only is this test well in excess of the 150 kilometers that the United Nations permits, the test was left out of Iraq\ufffds December 7 declaration. The UAV was flown around and around and around in this circle and so that its 80-kilometer limit really was 500 kilometers, unrefueled and on autopilot -- violative of all of its obligations under 1441.

The linkages over the past ten years between Iraq's UAV program and biologic and chemical warfare agents are of deep concern to us. Iraq could use these small UAVs which have a wingspan of only a few meters to deliver biological agents to its neighbors or if transported to other countries, including the United States.

It's not clear to me, though, whether this UAV/drone is the same one that is mentioned in the appendix to Blix's most recent report.

Has anyone seen the appendix posted anywhere?

Cheers,
Scott.
New Well...there you go.
I guess I missed that one.

New ROFL!
You should write a play! Think of the promo's:

"In the 1970's it was 'The Russians are coming, The Russians are coming!' and today, it's 'The Iraqis are coming, The Iraqis are coming!'"

New I'll take it as an obtuse reference to something.
Not sure what.

New Who is obtuse?
Lemme try to spell it out for you:

1) During the Cold War, (remember that?), the US was terrified that the Soviets were going to invade. As recently as the 1980's this was reflected even in our entertainment ("Amerika" on ABC was a mini-series based upon the notion that the Soviets would invade, as was the motion picture "Red Dawn").
2) In 1966, the referenced comedy came out, illustrating just how ridiculous this US fear of Soviet invasion was.
3) You in your posts, and many others, are trying to get us all worried about Iraqi invasions or military actions against us.

Just as this was lunacy in the Cold War, it is lunacy now.
bcnu,
Mikem

Osama bin Laden's brother could fly in US airspace 9/15/01, but I had to wait for FBI and CIA background checks, 'nuff said?
New You must be reading somebody else's stuff...
...I referenced a piece of news from a month back that was broadcast on CNN. Which, by the way, I laughed at...and then had to explain to others in the room why I thought that proposal was utterly laughable.

Is there anywhere else where I have >ever< said anything at all about an Iraqi invasion or any military action against us?

You're losing it bub.

New I missed the (a stretch) in a couple posts up. But,...
from what I recall in your posts, you suggest that Iraq is a threat to the US. I'm too lazy to go find examples and since you are now denying that Iraq is a threat, I'm pleased I was wrong about your position. I'll presume that you're also opposed to military action, since you agree Iraq is no threat.
bcnu,
Mikem

New Take a deep breath.
Now let it out.

Go back to sleep.

You've apparently been that way for a while now :-)

I have stated...on more than several occasions...that Iraq does not represent a clear and present danger to the United States.

I'll concede I haven't read too many of your posts of late. But, what do you expect when you link Washington Times articles ;-)
