New Saudis say we can use their border
[link|http://216.26.163.62/2003/ss_saudis_03_05.html|Room to maneuver]

Excerpt:

Saudi Arabia is said to have allowed the United States to deploy troops and aircraft near the Iraqi border.

Saudi opposition sources in London and Washington quoted witnesses as saying that up to thousands of U.S. soldiers have arrived the Iraqi-Saudi border over the last week. The sources said the U.S. military has taken over an airport in the area.

I say:

Anyone who doesn't immediately grasp the implications, look at a map. Unless you're one of our gang of leftist idiots, in which case you'll never understand anything anyway.

New The part you missed.
From that article:
Saudi opposition sources said the U.S. use of the kingdom's air bases appears to be part of a deal to exclude Riyad from a State Department list of major violators of religious freedom. Such a determination would have resulted in U.S. sanctions on Saudi Arabia.
So, they let us use their border and we don't apply the same standard to behaviour to them that we want to apply to everyone else.

A few years ago, this thought process had the US funding Iraq's chem/bio weapons program.

"Yes, we know you're a restrictive, repressive government, but we'll support you if you'll help us with this other problem."
New Don't you just love the internet?
Without it we here in the good old USA would have to rely on our corpmedia for news and wouldn't get to see this stuff.

Propaganda is going to be a much harder sell with worldwide communication available.

Anything that takes 8 minutes to get from 55 to 65 MPH is a good starter vehicle.
