Has anyone here any experience with using UPS data via XML for web display? What are the gotchas? Used Perl, PHP or .... ? Was SSL an obstacle?

(I found that HTML for package tracking is easy, as is very basic shipping rate info. We need to get shipping rate to a location based on zip code -- & for some reason there's no ground UPS to HI. That's why we need XML.)
