New Fleischer gets laughed out of press briefing

It looks like Ari Fleischer finally tried to hit the press with a lie so absurd they broke out laughing. A reporter was pressing Fleischer for information about how much the US if offering other countries for support.

Fleischer not only tried to deny that there was any deal making going on, but tried to act indignant that anybody would suggest that other countries might be open to such deals. The Whitehouse transcript puts it in the best possible way, but even they record the laughing in the room at that point.

Not a huge thing, but I think it plays into the idea that people are trusting the White House less and less.

New Funny that - we have the same here in IWETHEY

At times it seems like the hard core of 'high-mips' thinkers in the community, laugh at many of the views & stupidity of some of the propagandists who haunt IWETHEY.

It is interesting to read how the apparant past ready acceptance of obvious b/s from whitehouse briefings, is at last getting the accolades some of it deserves.

I am heartened by this news <grin>

Cheers

Doug
New One more time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time
You can fool some of the people all of the time
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

New Droll LRPD:___ Back off, man! I'm a scientist!
New He said "thank you" and stormed out?
That's an odd way of storming out. Also are you sure they weren't laughing with him, rather than at him? (Read the [link|http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/02/20030225-9.html#18|transcript], folks, and think "swipe at France." Unless you have no sense of irony. In which case you won't get it anyway.)

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot you're desperate to grasp at any straw to make the smirking chimp's people look foolish, and you less so by comparison. Carry on.

Meanwhile, in other news, Saddam's "discovered" a bioweapon. You know, one of those things he didn't have, except the smirking chimp thought otherwise, the silly fellow.

New Grasping at straws?
...you're desperate to grasp at any straw to make the smirking chimp's people look foolish...
It's really hard to grasp only one when you plunge into those haystacks.

New I'll quote that link you've provided.
Q -- the French press is quoting actually two different diplomats from the United States State Department that -- they're highlighting that the United States is giving some sort of agreements or benefits to Colombia -- and other non-members of the Security Council --

MR. FLEISCHER: I haven't seen the story. And you already have the answer, about what this will be decided on. But think about the implications of what you're saying. You're saying that the leaders of other nations are buyable. And that is not an acceptable proposition. (Laughter.)

Thank you.

There. That's from the transcript.

From Marlowe:
Also are you sure they weren't laughing with him, rather than at him?
There is something funny there other than the bit about the bribes?
New Just saw it.
Definitely worth skipping the Real stream up 28 minutes to see.

Could this be the first indication that the "Bended Knee" group is catching on? I doubt it, but one can hope. :-)

Osama bin Laden's brother could fly in US airspace 9/15/01, but I had to wait for FBI and CIA background checks, 'nuff said?
