my satisfaction from all the learning that came out of the Geordie posts & finally discovering for myself the Crichton connection (the more I discovered the more I realise I had heard family talk of it all, my father always rambled on about being related to Marquis deButte (a Crichton) but me Da was such a lying bastaad that we kids eventually ignored his ramblings - but shyte he was a good salesman), anyway it all made me want to go there to visit. Was able to partially do so thry the net.

Your info re Hartlepool means I would include Andy Capp's home in the visit and it would have some meaning because of your involvement. Also would visitNth Shields. Even the nefarious Oxley/Crichton connection means I would be on the look out for the Oxleys & would have some (Georrdie style affinity to share).

I am glad I never was not in pussars though was always a RAF man (having applied but then joined RAAF).
