Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Where to buy tag ram for an old motherboard?
A giga-byte GA-586HX

Right now it will only cache 64MB, I want MORE!!!

But I can't find the damn tag ram chip. Any advice?
New I think you're out of luck.
Crucial.com doesn't list your motherboard (though they do list lots of others by Gigabyte). Nothing obvious with Google. Nothing on eBay either.

How about $18 for a Micron P200 MMX motherboard and CPU? [link|http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2303975351&category=4615|Here] on ebay. (Caveat emptor and all that.) It might be less aggravating to go such a route than trying to find chips for your board.

If not, save up for a new motherboard/system is my recommendation.

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.

You might be able to get "generic" chips and have it work. Who knows?

New I just need to find a vendor for those chips.
I found those posts. But I can't find any vendor anywhere that will list those chips.

:(
New Call RePC
See if they've got any old 486 motherboards...

Hmm, I'll check a motherboard of mine when I go home this weekend. I've got a junker that ain't working, that concievably could have valid chips...

New Maybe Rochester Electronics.
[link|http://www.rocelec.com/product.cfm|Here]. You'll apparently need a part number or something similar. Their business is "obsolete" semiconductors.
