New I have a question or two pursuent to the estate tax
How many landed gentry in England's decendants still own the manors their folks established and built several generations ago? How many estates were broken up and sold to raise the estate tax? Can a human being ever own property or just rent it from the government for a period of years?

New Definitions.
Is it "rent" if, each year, you pay and if you don't pay, you are forced to leave?

As for owning anything, again, it's back to definitions.

In the US, you "own" things only as far as the state allows you to.

If there was no state, you would "own" things only as far as you were able to keep others from taking them.

The state charges you to provide this "protection". If you fail to pay the protection money (taxes), the property will revert to the state to be disposed of as the state deems fit.

Is this enlightening you any?

So yeah, this is a thing. One of those things that you come across online that makes you think, "That's enough internet for the day."
