New VIA C3 processor
I have a 700Mhz Celeron CPU, but it is a bit slow. There are other chips that the motherboard can take, including the C3 chip. Not that I have the money to do so right now, maybe in June when my disability checks come in I can start saving for one?

What are the advantages and disavantages of the VIA C3 chip? I know it can be used on Intel motherboards, same as the Celeron, but are there any drawbacks to using one?

New I doubt you'd gain a lot
I have a Shuttle XPC (really small computer) with 800 MHz Via C3. Speed isn't bad, but I doubt you'd gain a whole lot over a 700MHz Celery.

Supposedly the C3 runs cooler than the P-3/P-3 Celery.

They're pretty cheap, so even if the speed gain is, say, 10-20%, it might be worth it.

If you're looking at a faster user experience, also consider getting a faster video card.
