In any case you have to pay to have the film developed.
Once the film is developed, you can get a film scanner that can scan a whole roll of APS film at a time at 2800 - 4000 dpi, but typically they're not cheap (the Nikon Coolscans with APS adapters are probably about $800; some of the cheaper film scanners require you to hand advance every frame).
Or, you can have Kodak create a PictureCD or another photo finisher create floppies or CD-ROMs.
So if you take a lot of pictures & don't print most of them, buying a digital camera is A LOT cheaper than film.
